Program/Policy Description This project aims to identify factors that interfere with women's ability to find and keep employment and thus leave welfare, focusing on mental health problems and experiences of domestic violence. The study will assess the prevalence and co-morbidity of psychiatric disorders, physical health problems, and domestic violence among low-income single mothers, and examine the relationship of these problems to unemployment and dependency on welfare.
